When using eBay, the best way to optimise what you’re selling is to add as much information as possible. Include colour, size, condition, and any keywords to describe the item. The more information you have, the more people will be able to find the item and have more confidence in buying from you.
Photography is very important online! You want to have genuine photos of the items with clear backgrounds so people can really see what they are looking to purchase. It can be tempting to list all your items at once, but algorithms suggest it’s better to list your items on a daily basis so people find new items every time they view your stuff.
When using Facebook, similar rules apply for how to present your items. However, there are a number of different ways to sell on Facebook; from marketplace, to buy & sell groups. The difference between these and eBay is that you don’t have a shopping cart, so essentially, you’re not buying and selling in the traditional sense. When someone shows interest, it doesn’t mean they are necessarily going to buy your item. It’s more the start of a negotiation process where you agree a final price with the buyer and then provide details for where to make the exchange of money for goods.
